I am a bit upset that Board Members have relatives that are working in the school district and it seems they use their influence to move their friends and relatives up. It seems to me that this should be illegal. Does anyone else feel this way? I think that this should be investigated at the very least.

I live in a town where we just elected a school board member whose wife is a school teacher. Our supeintendent's wife is one also. How can they perform the school board job with such conflict of interest. I would love to negotiate my family's salary???????? Is a conflict of interest policy required??

I am about to return to the Scio Central School Board. Scio has three members of the board who have spouces employed by the school. They seem to think that by being objective they can manage, I have my doubts. When you consider that the CSEA contractual talks have a lot to do with the Teacher's contracts talks (and visa versa)how can they vote on either contract? The list goes on and on of where there are conflicts of interest. Where do I get the answer on what relatives can and can't vote on?
