Data Notes:
(1) The two houses of the Legislature sometimes use different words and phrases to describe similar expenses. For example, "bulk mail" in Assembly is used to describe the sort of constituent mailings that can be found by searching for "newsletter" in Senate expenses, while payments to landlords for district office space can be found under "real estate rental" in the Assembly and "D.O. Lease" in the Senate.
(2) The "vendor" listed under travel expenses for both houses is usually the name of the legislator or staff member receiving travel reimbursement.
(3) In both the Assembly and Senate, the expense types "Long Distance Telephone," "Mail" and "Supplies" reflect costs that are allocated back to each office after being paid for by the appropriate central office and reported as a "Maintenance & Operations" expense. The costs shown in this section are for informational purposes only, and do not reflect actual expenditures.
